چکیده
Hybrid joints consisting of metals and fiber-reinforced polymer composites exhibit highly desirable properties for many lightweight design applications. This study investigates the potential additively manufactured surface structures enhancing bond strength such in comparison to face milled laser structured surfaces. Titanium samples with different (as-built surface, groove-, pin-shaped structures) were via electron beam melting joined carbon polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK) adhesive bonding thermal direct joining, respectively. Bond was evaluated by tensile shear testing. Samples exposed salt spray testing 1000 h studying stability under harsh environmental conditions. The initial strengths competitive or some cases even exceeded values achieved structuring both investigated joining methods. most promising results found structures. However, hybrid tended be more susceptible degradation during exposure. It is concluded that can a viable alternative metal-polymer joints, thus opening up new potentials design.

Local deformation behavior of surface porous polyether-ether-ketone.
Surface porous polyether-ether-ketone has the ability to maintain the tensile monotonic and cyclic strength necessary for many load bearing orthopedic applications while providing a surface that facilitates bone ingrowth; however, the relevant deformation behavior of the pore architecture in response to various loading conditions is not yet fully characterized or understood. The focus of this s...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Mean strain effects on cyclic deformation and fatigue behavior of polyether ether ketone (PEEK)
The fatigue behavior of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) thermoplastic was investigated under uniaxial strain-controlled cyclic loading condition with various mean strains (Rε 1⁄4 0, 0.2, and 0.25). The mean stress responses of PEEK from all mean strain fatigue tests were found to be fully-relaxed. As a result, minimum mean strain effect on fatigue behavior of PEEK was observed. Fractography analy...

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK), a high-performance semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer, has been employed to replace the metallic implant components in orthopedics. There were various studies performed in accordance to medical grade PEEK, but the relationship between titanium dioxide (TiO2)-coated PEEK, TiO2-blended PEEK, and untreated PEEK still remains complicated, eve...
متن کاملPEEK (Polyether-ether-ketone) Based Cervical Total Disc Arthroplasty: Contact Stress and Lubrication Analysis
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the maximum contact stress and the lubrication regimes for PEEK (Polyether-ether-ketone) based self-mating cervical total disc arthroplasty. The NuNec(®) cervical disc arthroplasty system was chosen as the study object, which was then analytically modelled as a ball on socket joint. A non-adhesion Hertzian contact model and elastohydrodynamic lubric...
